How to make woodworking plans in sketchup?

The first thing you have to do is draw a model. Sketchup incorporates standard views (front, side, plan, etc.). Normally you would set up a scene for each and then you can use them as viewports in Design. You can also produce sections to explain the construction.

Again, set up scenes for each one. Advanced carpenters could build the furniture from those illustrations, but I also made detailed plans of the SketchUp model used for those illustrations. As you have shown, the look of a carpentry plan intended solely for using scenes in SketchUp 3D space with one designed for Layout is very different. I think this last step has made a huge difference in the success of my carpentry plans selling as they have.

No modern carpenter truly has a complete set of skills without knowing the ins and outs of SketchUp woodworking. I wish I could say that the rest is history and now I have a library of hundreds of carpentry plans, but I don't have it. This video and tutorial explain the design process of a piece of furniture (a table) in SketchUp based on custom dimensions and the creation of usable carpentry plans. I have modified my methods over time, but the basics of how I create my carpentry plans are basically the same.

I had been on my YouTube channel for about a year before I decided to make carpentry plans for a couple of my projects.
