Do i need a planer for woodworking?

Most woodworkers know that it takes both a planer and a jointer to get the most out of raw wood (at least for power tool users). The joiner is used to flatten one face and square an edge and the planer is used to make the second face flat and parallel to the first. The planers are ideal for achieving a uniform thickness of the entire material. If this is your problem, a planer would do a great job.

Jet is a mid-level woodworking machinery company that manufactures quite good wood planers, mainly for the most amateur carpenters.
